We'd have an occasional skirmish with the local tennis players but most of us understood that it was a tennis court first and we'd give it up to the wannabe Federers if they showed up.
More than one time the cops came. This time we didn't see them until it was too late to get out. About 6 skaters got tickets ($280!) and me and my friend Dustin got the royal treatment. They took us to jail for the night.
I was 22 at the time. I called my dad to bail me out. I remember it was around 3 in the morning when he got me. He wasn't stoked. He asked me "So how much longer are you going to keep this up? You're 22. Are you going to keep getting in trouble for skateboarding?" My answer was yes.
