I got a lot of sleep last night. Maybe that's why this morning I chose to delve right into the heart of extreme. I googled "Dew Cup".
I went in to poke fun but within about 5 seconds I was kind of impressed. Its pretty much the most tricked out site I've ever seen whcich might not be saying all that much. Within about 2 seconds I found myself in "The house of Dew". I decided to check some of the clips out. I must have picked the wrong one cause there was no dramatic announcer, just a kid talking about his "sponsor me". He 360 flipped a huge gap and there's no way I'm hatin on that.
Also, the videos loaded up in about 1 1/2 seconds and you have the option of full screen. I HATE watching skate footage on computers and feel like telling anyone who says You Tube is the way of the future to f#ck off. Watch the Plan B trailer on their site and tell you don't feel like banging your head against the wall on half the tricks cause you can't tell who it is or what trick their doing. My parents warned me not to read in the dark. If I had kids I'd tell them not to strain their eyes on Quicktime. My point to this tangent is that the Dew footy is tolerable.
OK, so before I could pick anthoer skate video to watch it just started into the next one. Of course it wasn't skating. It was a bike sponsor me. Pretty jacked but hey, I'm the one who googled Dew Cup right?
I could go off about how their lumping all our sports together again under the extreme circus tent but instead I left the site kind of feeling like Mountain Dew is spending a lot of money sponsoring and supporting some skateboarding and that its cool that they're giving these up and comer shredders a little spotlight on their big time page.
So it got me to thinking, here I am capping on others when in fact I choose to live a lifestyle that is across the board and in fact a little extreme.
I've deced to give myself the K.T.O.T.D. for the following reasons:
-I once brought a BMX bike on a 2 month Santa Cruz tour. In the mornings we'd ride it around the hotel parking lots and bunny hop.
-I just got my first surfboard about 2 months ago and even though I've only stood up for about 5 seconds at a time, I have a picture of myself paddling on myspace. Total kook.
-This weekend I went to Skateworks and put some Shaun White snowboard boots on hold.
If you're going to start pointing fingers, Ronald, don't forget to start at home
For lunch I'll be having a Mountain Dew, some Right Guard and a Slim Jim.
